Haslemere Taxis — Local Cars, 24 Hours a Day

We're Chiddingfold Taxis, and we cover Haslemere and the GU27 villages every day of the year. Our base is in Chiddingfold, a few miles away across the GU8 lanes. and we answer the phone at any hour: 01483 387 475.

Haslemere station runs, morning and night

Haslemere station sits on the Portsmouth Direct line, run by South Western Railway. Northbound there are around three trains an hour to London Waterloo via Guildford and Woking, and the quickest services do it in a little under the hour, though the stopping trains take noticeably longer. Southbound you can pick up Petersfield, Liphook, Havant and Portsmouth Harbour, with some morning and evening trains reaching Southampton Central and Fareham.

The station has a decked car park, but if you'd rather not leave the car sitting there all week, we'll drop you at the forecourt and collect you off a late train. Tell us your booked service when you ring and we'll work to it. We can't promise a pickup to the minute, but we can be there and waiting.

Airport transfers from Haslemere

Airport transfers are our main trade. From Haslemere:

  • Heathrow (T2–T5) — around 38 miles by road, usually via the A3 and the M25, and roughly 45 minutes to an hour when the road is clear.
  • Gatwick (North & South) — closer as the crow flies but slower going, at about 32 miles and typically an hour or so.
  • Luton, Stansted and London City — longer runs again.
  • Southampton and Portsmouth cruise terminals — regular work for us.

Every one of those times is approximate and entirely at the mercy of traffic, so we build in a sensible cushion rather than cut it fine. The car is a red Toyota Corolla saloon with a big boot, which swallows a family's airport luggage without a fight.

The villages around Haslemere we cover

Haslemere is really a cluster of places, and we pick up from all of them. Shottermill, Critchmere and Camelsdale sit to the west, Grayswood just north on the Godalming road, and Hindhead and Beacon Hill up on the ridge. We run down to Fernhurst and over toward Liphook, Petworth and Midhurst, and back the other way through Witley, Milford and Chiddingfold.

If you're up a private lane or a track with no obvious number, say so when you book and we'll find you.

The roads in and out — what we watch

The roads matter here more than most places. The A286 is the spine, running north through Milford to Godalming and south to Midhurst. The A287 comes down off Hindhead through Shottermill, the A333 carries the old A3 route through Hindhead itself, and the B2131 heads east to Petworth and west to Liphook.

The A3 is the fast way out, and it goes under the Devil's Punch Bowl through the Hindhead Tunnel — at about 1.14 miles, the longest non-estuarial road tunnel in the country. It's a lovely bit of road when it's open. When it closes, everything is pushed back onto the old surface route through Hindhead and journeys stretch out, which is one reason we ask for a little notice on early airport runs.

Days out, evenings and one-offs

Plenty of our Haslemere work isn't a flight at all. It's Black Down and the Temple of the Winds, where the National Trust car parks sit on Tennyson's Lane up Haste Hill, or the Devil's Punch Bowl, or the museum and the shops around Lion Green and the High Street.

We do evenings out, hospital and appointment runs, weddings and events, and same-day courier jobs when something needs to be somewhere and the post won't do.

How to book a Haslemere taxi

Booking is simple. Ring 01483 387 475, WhatsApp 07453 267475, or email info@chiddingfoldtaxis.co.uk. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

We don't publish a price list, because a fare from Grayswood is not a fare from Camelsdale and pretending otherwise helps nobody. Tell us where you're going and when, and we'll agree a fixed fare with you before you travel — so the number you're quoted is the number you pay.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Haslemere to Heathrow?

We don't publish fixed prices, because the fare depends on where in Haslemere you're starting, the terminal, and the time of day. Ring 01483 387 475 and we'll agree a fixed fare with you before you travel — no meter surprises at the other end.

Can you pick me up from Haslemere station?

Yes. We meet trains at the station forecourt day and night. Give us your booked service when you ring and we'll work to that arrival. We can't promise a pickup to the exact minute, but we'll be there and waiting for you.

Do you cover Hindhead, Shottermill and Grayswood?

We do — along with Critchmere, Camelsdale, Beacon Hill, Fernhurst and the lanes in between. If you're somewhere hard to find, mention it when you book and we'll sort out exactly where to meet you.

How long does it take to get from Haslemere to Gatwick by taxi?

It's about 32 miles by road and typically around an hour when traffic is kind, but that's approximate only. The M25 and the A3 can both add a lot, so we'd rather set off early than have you running for a gate.

Are you actually based in Haslemere?

No — we're honest about that. We're based in Chiddingfold, a few miles away, and Haslemere is one of our regular runs. It means a local driver setting off from nearby rather than one coming across the county, and we know the town well enough to find your door first time.
